Klaipeda has a very interesting history being ruled by several nations over the previous centuries! Need more? A ferry ride from Klaipeda across the Curonian Lagoon takes you to the Curonian Spit, also known as the Nida and Neringa penninsula. Here you can visit the interesting Maritime Museum of Klaipeda which is housed in a German fort. Called the Kopgalis Fort, it has several exhibits which showcase the rich marine life and navigation history of the area. The fort also has a Dolphinarium and visitors are treated to amazing shows performed by trained dolphins and Californian sea lions.
